Adult Acting Intermediate / Advanced

This will be a scene study class for the intermediate to advanced actor. Actors must either have at least one year of scene study, the recommendation of the instructor, or have had previous training. Class will focus on scene study, building an unbreakable sense of truth, and general fine tuning of acting technique. Students will work on the fundamentals of performance and character development incorporating the techniques of Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner and Constantine Stanislavsky. Script analysis, sense of truth, and personalization will also be vital to developing your scenes and monologues. This will be a fun, safe learning environment culminating in a class showcase at the end for invited guests.
Adult Fundamentals SUNDAY NIGHT SECTION

This will be an introductory class for the new or beginning actor focusing on the basics of acting, scene study, performance technique, working in a collaborative setting, and the techniques of Uta Hagen, Stanislavsky, and Sanford Meisner. Students will also focus on building their sense of play in a group setting and a safe environment. The beginnings of script analysis, sense of truth, and personalization will also be achieved. Commercial work will also be addressed as well as on camera technique. This will be a fun and safe learning environment culminating in a class showcase at the end for invited guests.
Music Studio: Vocal Artistry or Songwriting for TEEN/ADULTS
with Carrie Marshall

In conjunction with Carrie Marshall Music Studios, this 10 week vocal artist intensive is for all ages and include the beginner and experienced singer, alike. The 10 week intensive includes:
8 one on one private sessions (50 minutes each)
3 group classes (on Fridays from 5-7 p.m.) Classes will be grouped according to performance experience and participation availability.
1 professional level showcase open to the public Friday, March 24th
In private sessions, Carrie specializes in helping clients find their artistic voice and freedom with singing and artistry. From troubleshooting issues surrounding technique and vocal control, to the mental and behavioral challenges that can plague performers (performance anxiety, overthinking, confidence and stage presence, etc.) Carrie comes alongside each student to customize a vocal regimen that is applicable for them specifically, addressing their issues and concerns.
Group vocal sessions gives each student a chance to practice performing, whether it’s getting comfortable singing in front of others or workshopping a song before an audition or performance. Group sessions are a wonderful way to collaborate, gain confidence and meet other vocal artists!
The final showcase is open to the public gives us a chance to strut our stuff! After 10 weeks of study, you will be amazed at how freeing and fun performing can be!
Adult Improv Level 2

What do the writers of most of your favorite comedies and late night shows have in common? The majority of them are trained improvisers. If you want to build your confidence, learn to create characters and environment, and quicken your wit, then long form improv is for you. In this ten week course we will learn several structures for long form improv. We will break down what makes a scene work, as well as what keeps a scene from being successful. You will be challenged to create unique characters, to trust your instincts and to support your classmates. Improv training, can benefit you creatively as well as professionally. If your work requires networking or public speaking, then improv will sharpen those skills and build your confidence. All skill and experience levels are welcome. Our 8 week session will culminate in a showcase for friends and family!
This class will meet 8 weeks with no class on the 21st of February. Prerequisite: Level 1 Improv class or previous Improv experience.

Voice for the Actor
with Ali Evarts

For actors 16 and up, this class will introduce actors to mVm - Miller Voice Method, a breath and voice-centered acting technique that facilitates a more present, charismatic, responsive, flexible, and resilient physical instrument. Students will integrate their new skills into a contemporary monologue. Appropriate for beginning actors and seasoned professionals looking to expand the tools in their repertoire.

Class will take place from 5-7pm on Tuesdays Starting in Jan. 17th.
mVm was founded by Scott Miller (Faculty at NYU Tisch Graduate Acting) and is taught in MFA programs around the country, including at NYU Tisch, SMU, Brooklyn College, and UNC.
Ali Evarts is an actor, writer, and Certified mVm Teacher. In addition to her arts work, she has served as the the General Manager of mVm for the last 3 years.
Professional Actor Study Adult
with Estes Tarver

This class is designed for actors who have either already had serious training, are working professionally already, or have studied with Estes previously and have been admitted. Actors seeking to work or are already working seriously in Film, Television, and Theatre. Class will focus on scene study, building an unbreakable sense of truth, and general fine tuning of acting technique. This class will also be a good place for working actors to work their chops. We will also touch on Dialects, and any requested work by the students. $50.00 Non-refundable deposit to reserver a spot. Winter Shakespeare Sessions Four Week Session

For actors 16 and up, this class serves young actors seeking to find monologues for auditions as well as experienced actors seeking a deeper understanding and practice in working in Shakespeare. Work in the class is tailored to the individual actor and is conducted in a master-class format, with each actor working in each class. Class is capped at 5 to ensure individual instruction and begins with a pre-course interview to determine the student’s goals for the course.
