Songwriting is a personal experience! Yet there are techniques and structures that songwriters follow that enhance expression and mastery in the art of songwriting. In private songwriting sessions, Carrie will get a sense of each client’s unique artistic voice and writing style. Focus will be on the craft of songwriting, song structure, lyrical structure and (if applicable) music theory. Whether a beginner or a seasoned songwriter, Carrie will come alongside to format a specific program tailored to each writer’s strengths and areas in need of improvement. Students in this track can expect to write between 5-10 songs within the 10 week timeframe. Students can expect a basic recording of their original material, with at least one song that is produced (added instrumentation, etc.)

In group songwriting sessions, we will share our songs with each other, get comfortable sharing our material with others as well as connecting as a performer. (Performance is not required. If the student does not want to perform, another singer/instrumentalist can present their material for them.)

A final showcase allows the student to polish and have performed 2-3 of their favorite new tunes for an audience.
