Tween Scene Study Intermediate/Advanced

Through exercises, games, improvisation, scene and on-camera work, students will continue to develop the foundations of good acting. Students study fundamentals including blocking, story arc, character development and sensory awareness with an exploration of audition technique and acting for stage versus film. This class will review and build on the fundamentals taught in Acting I/II and prepare students for more advanced acting classes. Students have opportunities, through creative play and group work, to perform for each other and for guests.

Payment plan available: $50 deposit plus 5 payments of $60.00, paid weekly.

Adult Acting Intermediate / Advanced

Calendar Sep 11, 2022 at 5 pm, runs for 10 weeks

This will be a scene study class for the intermediate to advanced actor. Actors must either have at least one year of scene study, the recommendation of the  instructor, or have had previous training. Class will focus on scene study, building an unbreakable sense of truth, and general fine tuning of acting technique. Students will work on the fundamentals of performance and character development incorporating the techniques of Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner and Constantine Stanislavsky. Script analysis, sense of truth, and personalization will also be vital to developing your scenes and monologues. This will be a fun, safe learning environment culminating in a class showcase at the end for invited guests.

This will be an introductory class for the new or beginning actor focusing on the basics of acting, scene study, performance technique, working in a collaborative setting, and the techniques of Uta Hagen, Stanislavsky, and Sanford Meisner. Students will also focus on building their sense of play in a group setting and a safe environment. The beginnings of script analysis, sense of truth, and personalization will also be achieved. Commercial work will also be addressed as well as on camera technique. This will be a fun and safe learning environment culminating in a class showcase at the end for invited guests.

Improv for Teens

Join us for fun and play. Our teen students will be challenged to move beyond the structures of short form improv and learn the fundamentals of long form scene work. In this ten week course we will learn the rules of scene work, building characters, supporting our classmates and trusting our ideas. We will work on letting go of our instinct to be self conscious, and build confidence in a safe environment where everyone is supported. Learning and performing improv will build skills and confidence that are useful both on and off stage. All skill and experience levels are welcome! Join us for ten weeks of fun and creating! Will meet for 10 sessions with no class on February 26th and March 5th.

FUNdamentals: Stand Up Comedy

Homeschoolers: Tween Acting Fundamentals

This class is designed to give young actors a foundational knowledge of acting principles and practice working with comedic and dramatic texts. In an open and comfortable learning environment, students will explore ways to find the fun story of a scene. Class will use games and exercises to help build the reality of the world, create a character’s perspective and motivation, and explore the arc of their relationships. Students will study acting fundamentals including blocking, story arc, character development and also the exploration of audition technique and acting for stage and film. We will learn that there’s no way to do it right, there is the personal way of each actor. and that all the play we explore in class fits right into the world of an audition! The goal of this class is to encourage new and returning actors to go into their Showcase, classes and beyond with a firm, confident foundation under their feet and a hunger to learn and play more. A $50 deposit is required to hold a space in the class.

Munchkin Acting

This crazy scene study class will have the kids doing some great kids scenes and also most will work on a monologue. We will have fun playing games and doing small scenes. They will learn some text skills and dialogue skills while having fun and being engaged! This class is also good for young actors interested in both stage and TV/FILM. Most importantly the kids will learn from Lucy, a wonderful instructor who will create a friendly, safe, and fun learning environment. $50.00 Non-refundable deposit.

How to Write a 10-minute Play and Get it Produced

Writing short plays is fun!  And there are play festivals all over the country (and a few beyond) who are looking for 10-minute plays to produce.  Learn the art of writing the 10-minute play, and then send those plays out into the world!  This virtual class is four weeks of writing and rewriting, and some acting (we will read our own scripts aloud).  Playwright and teacher Mark Cornell has had over 75 short plays produced and is a Eugene O'neill Semi-Finalist.  His 10-minute play All the Answers has been produced 25 times.  Come join us!
